Hanwei Taza Cup Hilt Rapier (SH2035)
Hanwei Taza Cup Hilt Rapier (SH2035) Points: 12   Additional photo in details view
Long extolled as the pinnacle of rapier design, the "Spanish" or "Cup-Hilt" rapier undoubtedly combined style and function very effectively in 17th century Europe. The very best of these weapons featured beautifully pierced cups and pommels and CAS Hanwei has replicated these to perfection and combined them with an elegantly tapered high-carbon steel blade in our "Taza" rapier (the name comes from the French, who called this style "a la Taza"). A leather-covered scabbard is included. The matching Main Gauche again features a pierced guard and pommel in the same design as the rapier, with a fileworked blade in the Spanish style. Hanwei Torino Rapier (Left-Hand) (SH2204L)
Hanwei Torino Rapier (Left-Hand) (SH2204L) Points: 12   Additional photo in details view
Based on models of 17th century swept-hilt rapiers of Italian ancestry, our Torino Rapier and matching Main Gauche exhibit the classic straight crossguard styling popular in this part of Europe. Available in antiqued(SH2204N), polished(SH2204), and now left-handed polished(SH2204L) versions. All of our rapiers have stainless steel hilts, for reduced maintenance, and high-carbon steel flex-tempered blades. Our three swept-hilt styles (Solingen, Torino, Gustav) are available with hilts in both polished and antiqued finishes. The latter finish, developed by Hanwei, has allowed a museum-quality patina to be applied to stainless steel while the non-corroding properties of the steel are retained. This finish is extremely attractive and gives a very authentic appearance to the piece.

Hanwei Trident Main Gauche (SH1031)
Hanwei Trident Main Gauche (SH1031) Points: 9
Replicating a 17th century museum piece, our Trident Main Gauche illustrates the skill and ingenuity of the bladesmiths of the period. Worn as a straight dagger, the weapon becomes a highly effective main gauche at the touch of a button, when the spring-loaded side pieces of the split blade fly open to become blade trappers. At the same time, the offensive capability provided by the point is retained.

Hanwei Stiletto (SH1221)
Hanwei Stiletto (SH1221) Points: 5
The Stiletto replicates a late 17th century piece from a private collection. Designed exclusively as a thrusting weapon, the stiletto was widespread in the period when upper-class civilian dress often incorporated mail or leather body armour. The triangular section 10" blade is complemented by a buffalo horn grip, with the pommel and guard finials in the form of spirally carved pine cones. The 1904 Austrian Cavalry Saber was designed by the Inspector General of the Cavalry and, after undergoing a number of minor revisions, was officially adopted for use in 1908. It was issued throughout the Austro-Hungarian Empire and was well received by troopers and officers alike for several reasons.

Cold Steel Civilian Saber (88NSS)
Cold Steel Civilian Saber (88NSS) Points: 20
The cavalry saber reached an incomparable level of popularity during the Napoleonic wars. An efficient weapon of war with somewhat heroic overtones, it was used by officers on foot as well as troopers mounted on horseback. It had one drawback. For civilian use, formal, or ceremonial occasions, it was a bit cumbersome, even awkward, as even the lightest models were too heavy and long for practicality. Additionally, the multiple bar hilt, which effectively protected one's hand from an opposing blade, would occasionally catch, snag, or hook on objects it touched in passing.

Cold Steel Prussain Saber (88PSA)
Cold Steel Prussain Saber (88PSA) Points: 18
In the mid 1800's the world's armies were in a race to field the most effective cavalry arms. The debates raged regarding the merits of the lance over the saber or vice versa. Additionally there were further disagreements, with some favoring the point oriented weapon and others the edge.
The Prussian response was to equip their exalted cavalry with a saber that tried to strike a perfect balance. Roll forged from high carbon steel with a spring temper, it offered a slightly curved blade with a pipe back (spine) that ran down its length to reinforce the spear point. It had a remarkably effective, pierced basket guard and a sharkskin wrapped grip. It was a light, handy saber that cut efficiently and was diabolical in the thrust because of the added stiffness of its pipe back cross section.

Hanwei Baselard Dagger (SH2460)
Hanwei Baselard Dagger (SH2460) Points: 9   Additional photo in details view
The Baselard, in both its shortsword and dagger forms, was a uniquely Swiss weapon as its name suggests. Characterized by its crescent-shaped guard and pommel, the Baselard was long-lived, first appearing in the 13th century and surviving into the 17th century.
Our Baselard Dagger is based on an early 15th century piece and features a single-edged diamond-section blade in 5160 high-carbon steel with a riveted tang. The distinctive hardwood grip is capped with engraved steel guard and pommel plates, and an attractive leather-covered scabbard with a belt-retention ring completes the presentation.
