Hanwei Practical Special Katana (SH2376) |
Points: 15
|
The Practical Special is a subtly modified version of the Practical Katana(SH1070), made in response to requests for a quicker sword at the same economy price. The blade dimensions have been changed only slightly and the tsuba cutouts have been enlarged, and though this has resulted in a weight loss of only 3 oz, the difference in handling is very noticeable. The Practical will remain the standard for hard, regular cutting, but for those needing a faster draw, multiple cut katana at an economy price, the Special is the answer.

Hanwei Tactical Katana (SH2462) |
Points: 12
|
Hot on the heels of our incredibly popular Tactical Wak, the Tactical Katana has all of the same features and more! The Kat features a full-tang blade in 5160 high-carbon spring steel, plasma-coated for corrosion protection, and a checkered Kraton handle for a positive grip. The guard and the handle feature lanyard holes which, with the included ParaCord, provide a number of carrying options. The fiberglass scabbard construction eliminates water absorption and adds less than 10 ounces to the weight of the sword. With the accent on light and quick, one-handed operation is the norm but two-handed slashing power is available when needed.

Hanwei Odachi (SH2392) |
Points: 40
|
Forging and heat treating a 49" blade is a tough task but the Hanwei smiths have mastered the technique and we're excited to bring you our functional and historically accurate Odachi. The "O" means great and we're not kidding. With an overall length of 67" there's only one way to describe this sword - large! Patterned after an original from the 14th Century, when Odachi were still in use on the field of battle, this sword is a must for Japanese sword enthusiasts.

Hanwei Lion Dog Wakizashi (SH2449) |
Points: 25
|
The Lion Dog Wakizashi features an O-Kissaki blade of Hanwei's own high-alloy HWS-1S steel, which combines superior performance with an outstanding O-choji hamon. This steel is made in Hanwei's new factory, with high-tech equipment, producing a very pure advanced-metallurgy blade with the best edge-holding capability and resilience of any blade ever produced by Hanwei. The outstanding performance characteristics of blades forged from HWS-1S steel derive from a combination of the careful selection of alloying elements and a complex processing procedure, basically involving the manipulation of the steel’s carbon content across the blade section. This results in a very tough and resilient blade with a hard, highly abrasion-resistant edge

Hanwei Stand for Quandao (OH2290) |
Points: 7
|
Named for its originator, the great General Kwan Yu, The Quandao started life as a powerful military weapon weighing over 100 lbs., but has since evolved into a martial arts weapon weighing considerably less (ours is 5 1/2 lbs.). The un-edged high-carbon steel blade has a distal taper for balance and is engraved in a dragon motif with the traditional bell tassel attached to the hook. The wooden staff terminates in a quatrefoil pommel and the blood cup and guard have a distinctive antiqued finish. Lighter and better balanced than most Quandaos on the market, ours is ideal for the martial artist training with this formidable weapon. The stand for the Quandao (OH2290) is crafted in solid oak and displays the weapon beautifully in the vertical position.

Hanwei Tinker Pearce Early Viking Sword - Sharp (SH2408) |
Points: 10
|
Early Medieval Sword designed by Michael `Tinker` Pearce and reproduced by Hanwei to his specifications.
The swords meet Tinker`s exacting quality requirements and are built in much the same way as his custom pieces. Each blade is forged from 5160 Spring Steel, Marquenched to the desired hardness of 50-53 Hrc while the tang is drawn back to the low 30s Hrc. The very end of the tang is threaded to fit an allen nut recessed into the pommel which allows for dimantling of the hilt assembly for inspection or to exchange blades if needed.
