The Tsuba (guard), Fuchi (collar), and Kashira (pommel), are expertly made and finely crafted from black iron. The Habaki (blade collar), is hand made out of polished brass and each hilt is covered in Samé (ray skin) and tightly wrapped in the traditional style with black cord. A beautiful brass Menuki ( a small, ornamental sculpture inserted between the ray skin and the cord wrappings on the handle) enhances the sword's aesthetic appearance and makes for a sword that is as traditional looking as we can possibly make it.

The blade is unedged for safety and forged from steel for more precise weight and balance than an aluminum blade can offer. The blade is also maintenance free, providing a lifetime of practice without worry of rust or tarnish. The Practical Plus features genuine Same (Rayskin) on the Tsuka, with a tightly-woven cotton wrap (Tsuka-Ito). The long tang is double-pegged for security. The fittings of the Practical Plus are decorated in a Japanese Dogwood motif with lion dog menuki, and the handsome Tsuba is of an iron
"sunburst" design with a brass habaki.

The Shinto Iaito Katana has a hand forged unsharpened stainless steel blade. The stainless steel blade not only provides a maintenance free blade but more importantly provides the correct weight and balance needed for the rigors of repetitive drawing and sword motion practice. The blade features a deep Bo-Hi to provide audible feedback when the sword is swung.
The Saya has been constructed from hard wood and finished in a deep black lacquer with a black Japanese cotton sageo.
A finely rendered dragon, detailed in gold, with true front and back detail, forms the black iron Tsuba.

The Tori features a "Flying Crane" themed Tsuba and Fuchi/Kashira while the Menuki are Kabuto or Japanese helmets. The high quality brown leather Tsuka-ito is wrapped over black Same. The Saya is wrapped at the mouth with black-lacquered rattan and then finished in a textured brown. The Tori is available in three folded steel cutting blade profiles and three Iaito blade lengths.
