This saber boasts a hand-forged blade crafted from 1075 high carbon steel, a wire-wrapped leather handle, and a robust steel scabbard.
The hand-forged blade of the M-1860 Light Cavalry Saber is made from British military-specification steel, allowing it to flex over 20 degrees and return to true. The leather handle is meticulously wire-wrapped for a secure grip. Its curving blade is expertly designed for both penetration (thrusting) and slashing. Originally based on an earlier French saber design, it was manufactured in the North and in Europe for Union soldiers. Our excellent reproduction is handmade and ready for use.
A stout steel scabbard completes this legendary sword, evoking the unflinching bravery displayed at battles such as Antietam, Manassas, and Gettysburg.
