A large sword enjoyed considerable popularity. As the blade lengthened, the cutting speed also increased significantly. However, thanks to the use of a long ricasso, the weapon became even more formidable. The ricasso allowed the sword to be gripped above the guard, effectively shortening it and enabling it to be wielded like a short spear. As a result, thrusts gained more stability because the blade was firmly held at two points.
Our version of this sword is just as powerful as the originals. This medieval sword has considerable length, providing both substantial reach and striking power. The Roven Sword has a sharp blade made of high-carbon steel, tempered to a resilient spring. The hilt features a wooden core with a cord wrap, finished in leather, while the guard and pommel are made of steel. A leather scabbard is included. This is an interesting type of sword that undoubtedly deserves a place in every collection.
