Hanwei Bastard Sword (SH2250N) |
Points: 11
|
The Swiss and Germans originally carried these weapons, although Bastard swords soon became popular in other regions such as the British Isles and Europe. The term Bastard undoubtedly comes from the fact that the sword, because of its design, has no legitimate claim to being classified as either a uniquely single-handed or two-handed weapon. The Bastard sword was a weapon developed for the use of the foot soldier and had became quite common by the early 1500's. The combat styles developed for the Bastard sword were the particular specialty of the Northern European cultures, with the Germanic nations being at the forefront in its development and use. Our Bastard Sword is finished in an antique patina, making for an outstandingly authentic appearance. The included scabbard features metal chape and tip in the same patina as the furniture with a solid wood core.

Hanwei Longsword - Tinker Pearce Sharp (SH2394) |
Points: 15
|
Tinker Pearce has developed these matching longswords to satisfy the need of every Western Martial Arts practitioner and sword enthusiast, to have a matching set of sharp and blunt swords for cutting and safe training practice. The swords meet Tinker`s exacting quality requirements and are built in much the same way as his custom pieces. Each blade is forged from 5160 Spring Steel, Marquenched to the desired hardness of 50-53 Hrc while the tang is drawn back to the low 30s Hrc. The very end of the tang is threaded to fit an allen nut recessed into the pommel which allows for dimantling of the hilt assembly for inspection or to exchange blades if needed.

What others are saying about the Tinker Pearce Longswords:
"I had the opportunity to handle the prototype Tinker Pearce Line Longswords by CAS/Hanwei, and they are beautiful, well-balanced, quick-handling swords at an excellent price. The sharp and blunt versions handle almost identically in cuts, thrusts, and quick posta (guard) transitions. These promise to be the mid-priced training weapon of choice for longsword studies."

Rawlings Proline Xtreme Sparring Long Sword |
Points: 3
|
Our blades are designed to flex in the last 1/3 of their length towards the tip allowing for much safer thrusting than with conventional wooden wasters or shinai. The blade/tang joint (traditionally a weak point) is reinforced by a high tensile steel rod running along the full length of the handle. This also removes any flex in the handle traditionally associated with plastic training swords.
They are manufactured from our own special blend of plastic to provide strong and flexible sparring blade. They are designed to be used with low/medium protection (we recommend a fencing mask, stiff throat protector, fencing coach's jacket and decent lacrosse gloves). Please use responsibly.

Rawlings Synthetic Single Hand Sword Guard |
|
A lot of time and went into the design of these guards. The balance between safety, durability and aesthetics is hard to achieve. They are based on an original 15th century historical design - the balls on the end of the quillons allow for a much safer guard with little risk of impalement.
They are manufactured from a very tough plastic which provides a good balance between impact and flexural strength. However, they are plastic and not steel and will break under less pressure than there metal counterparts.
If you desire a stronger/heavier guard, we recommend you purchase a Pro-Line Stainless Steel Guard.

Rawlings Synthetic ``Scent Stopper`` Pommel |
|
Our “scent stopper” pommel is classified as an Oakeshott T5 and is quite a complex object to mould. It is made from a special blend of plastic and powdered metal to increase the weight beyond what is achievable with plastic alone. The threaded brass "supertorque" insert offers much better purchase than conventional inserts allowing for a tight fit. Should you require a heavier pommel please see our Pro-Line Stainless Steel Pommel.
