The Battle Gim is forged from our best DAMASCUS STEEL by talented smiths, it features a broad symmetrical point and a slightly wider, heavier blade than custom would dictate. This gives it a more pronounced blade-heavy balance making its twin razor-sharp edges slightly more suitable for cutting and slashing than thrusting.
The attractive Rosewood hilt is framed by a blackened iron guard and pommel. They're embellished with an intricate filigree of traditional Chinese Peony flowers and leaves. The matching Rosewood scabbard is styled in a similar fashion on its chape, throat and ring mounts.

Designed by noted martial artist and teacher Scott M. Rodell, our Chinese Cutting Sword provides a purpose-built weapon for the art of cutting in Chinese Swordsmanship. Utilizing a special steel formulation and heat treatment regimen developed by Hanwei, the blade optimizes edge hardness and body toughness, ideal characteristics in a cutting sword. The elegantly simple steel fittings reinforce the sword`s mission, providing uncluttered lines while still remaining true to tradition. Scott M. Rodell`s martial arts career includes over 25 years of training in Yang Style Taijiquan. He has trained under several noted Chinese masters, in both the U.S. and China. The pattern of the Ming Sword dates from the Ming Dynasty (1368 AD -- 1644 AD), which ruled China for almost three centuries after the fall of the Mongol controlled Yuan Dynasty. The beauty of this delightfully compact sword centers on its superb pattern-welded K120C blade, forged with a ridged central fuller providing the stiffness required for thrusting and the lightness required for speed. The grip is sculpted from brown buffalo horn, which is also used in thin, translucent wafers as a shell for the intricately decorated scabbard. The brass fittings are selectively decorated with dynastic designs plated in silver.
Recreated by the craftsmen of CAS Hanwei from the swords of the Lords of the great dynasties, these Chinese Gongfu swords represent the pinnacle of the sword maker's art, vividly illustrating the skills and creativity of the smiths of Imperial China.

The original Beile (Lord in Manchu), also known as the "Banner Lords" and "Iron-Capped Princes" were the sons of Nurgaci, founder of the Qing Dynasty. After his death the Beile Hong Taiji was selected as Khan.
Our Beile Dao commemorates this Prince. Its beautifully detailed Iron furniture complements the patterning of the Damascus blade and the rayskin-covered scabbard adds to the rugged richness of the sword. Truly a collector piece and creating a demand in its homeland, this sword will only be available in limited quantities.

The Han Sword is a cavalry pattern from the Han Dynasty (206 BC - 220 AD), which reunited China and established boundaries very similar to those existing today. The rosewood grip and scabbard are inlaid with silver in an intricate scroll pattern, while the gilded steel guard, pommel and scabbard decorations feature the "crouching tiger" motif. The random pattern K120C Damascus blade, with its ridged central fuller and reinforced point is admirably suited for slashing cuts and powerful thrusts from horseback.
