Hanwei Adam Hsu 2-handed Jian - Fiberglass Handle 36 (SH2278)
Hanwei Adam Hsu 2-handed Jian - Fiberglass Handle 36 (SH2278) Points: 9
Designed by world-renowned Chinese martial arts master Sifu Adam Hsu, these Chinese straight swords (Jian) are becoming the weapon of choice in the Tai Chi community. Functionality, weight and balance are paramount considerations in Sifu Hsu's designs, while Hanwei's quality and workmanship give the swords a graceful and pleasing appearance. The blades are crafted in high-carbon spring steel and have a pronounced center ridge and distal taper, producing exactly the right degree of stiffness and a very audible hiss in the cutting stroke. The Ming-style steel guards have an embossed Dragon symbol, while the open-ended pommels facilitate the fitting of a tassel.

''Lowlander'' Two-Handed Great Sword (SH2065)
''Lowlander'' Two-Handed Great Sword (SH2065) Points: 14
Wielded with untamed ferocity on many a Gaelic battlefield, the massive Lowlander sword vividly illustrates the might of the Scots of old. Known as Slaughter-Swords in the 16th century, these were the swords of choice for Scottish mercenaries of the period, and at close to six feet long the Lowlander (SH2065) faithfully replicates a surviving museum piece. Though by far the largest sword ever offered by CAS/Hanwei, the Lowlander is beautifully proportioned and balanced. The typically Scottish quatrefoils in the ring guards attest to the heritage of this imposing piece. A wall mount is provided to allow the transplanted Gael to display his sword with pride.

Hanwei Scottish Claymore (SH2060N)
Hanwei Scottish Claymore (SH2060N) Points: 18
Mainstay of the Highland warriors of the late 15th and 16th centuries, the Claymore had a uniquely styled hilt that sets it apart from other great swords of the period. Typically of hand-and-a-half length, this versatile weapon could deliver great sweeping slashes or powerful thrusts. Replicated from a surviving museum piece our Claymore is classic in its design, with distinctive sloping quillons terminating in quatrefoils and a high-collared quillon block with langets following the blade fuller. The leather-covered grip is topped by a globate pommel. The sword is available in both polished and antiqued finishes, the finish of the SH2060N closely replicating that of the original museum piece. The grips of the Claymore are leather-covered, black in the case of the SH2060 and brown for the SH2060N. Originally carried slung on the back, the Claymore matches perfectly with our OL1038/OL1038B back scabbard.

11th C. Viking forged sword
11th C. Viking forged sword Points: 15   Additional photo in details view
Viking swords, like the Vikings themselves, have reputations for being brutal and utilitarian devices, simplistic hacking weapons with little in the way of grace or beauty. This view has been perpetuated pop culture. For those who study Viking history and culture, though, they know that is simply not the case. Many Viking weapons that have remained for us to examine were not only functional but beautifully decorated. One such example is this sword, based on a find in Finland that dates back to the 11th Century.

Two handed Danish forged sword
Two handed Danish forged sword Points: 15   Additional photo in details view
The history of Denmark is filled with tumultuous periods of war and strife, conflicts driven by the same political and religious factors that were widespread throughout Medieval and Post-Medieval Europe. Smaller kingdoms were swallowed up by larger, and larger kingdoms splintered apart. Due to this fairly colorful history, the Danes became known for some distinctive weaponry, of which this Danish Two-Handed Sword is an example.

This sword is classified as an Oakeshott Type XVIIIe, a very unusual member of the Type XVIII group. It features a long, stiff diamond shaped blade with an extremely long handle, making it suitable for cut and thrust swordplay as many other swords were in the later 15th Century. However, this sword also has a long unsharpened ricasso that can be gripped to shorten up the blade for closer work. This option to fight with the “half sword” makes the Danish Two-Handed Sword an incredibly versatile weapon. Sword comes with leather scabbard.
